This is another hut selling samsa, the Central Asian street food, although the vendor has come up with an unusual shape. Traditionally, apples are one of the symbols of Almaty ("Alma" is the Kazakh word for apple). Older Kazakh friends tell me that years ago apple trees used to line the streets of Almaty. Almaty is famous for its aport apples, big juicy apples, which, alas, are really hard to find now.
