Alas, I never did see camels roaming the streets (although there were a few on the drive from Khiva to Bukhara). This one's name is "Katya" and she is tethered up for the tourists inside the old walls of Khiva. The previous camel, "Misha," spent thirty years being oggled by tourists inside the gates of Khiva. He went off to his "happy hunting grounds," so to speak, and the more sprightly Katya took his place.
