Here, you can see the President's Palace, far in the distance, and two golden office buildings, all still under construction. All of the new space-age construction is located on Astana's left bank (yes, it is really called the left bank!). The old city center (or what used to be know as Akmolinsk) is located on the other side of the river. But I'm told all the krutii liudi (cool people) and exiled Almatinsi (there is a big Almaty-Astana rivarly, with the Almatinsi claiming that those from Astana are cold, aloof and, well, just plain boring) living on the left bank.
