When I crossed into Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz border station was without power, but as I stepped into their passport control "building", er, hut, to be examined the power returned. "Hurrah, hurrah!," the jovial Kyrgyz border guards, who had been examining passports by candlelight exclaimed. "Sarah, don't leave us! We want our power!"
